Paints that block electromagnetic waves
Electromagnetic wave-shielding paints offer protection ranging from -35dB to -100dB (10 MHz to 50 GHz).
YShield® paints protect spaces (bedrooms, living rooms, offices, homes, premises, businesses) from electromagnetic fields across the high-frequency range as well as from electric fields (low frequencies). They do not protect against low-frequency magnetic fields. The latter can only be attenuated by anti-magnetic compounds. You can contact us for advice on the quantities to apply in order to achieve the desired attenuation, but applying two to three coats does not, of course, always guarantee the specified results. This is because each user picks up a different amount of paint on their applicator. It is far better to use the quantity applied per square metre, which is the true measure of the resulting attenuation; this quantity will vary from 1 litre for 0.5 to 5 square metres of surface area to be painted, depending on the level of attenuation required. Paint ranges vary according to the nature of the components, their attenuation properties, and whether or not they contain preservatives (MIT/BIT) – the latter being used in so-called ‘more biological’ paints. These paints must be earthed via an earthing plate and graphite tapes or binders such as AF3 YSHIELD applied along the walls.
